Emberstone Escape

Emberstone escape

Set in the beautiful town of San Luis Obispo, this AAA Landscaping design-build project turned an uneven, underutilized backyard into a cohesive outdoor retreat designed for connection, texture, and timeless beauty. The transformation was dramatic — from a bare slope to a fully functional landscape that invites gathering and relaxation.

Before, the space offered little definition or flow. After, carefully crafted details brought structure and warmth to every corner. Belgard pavers, accented with Arbel paver patterns, form the foundation of a welcoming patio and fire pit area, where subtle color blends echo the tones of the Central Coast landscape. Retaining walls were engineered to carve usable space from the hillside, adding both depth and elevation to the design.

A meandering Noiyo river rock bed sourced from Central Coast Landscape Products winds gracefully through the property, guiding water naturally while adding movement and texture. At its heart lies a custom fire ring fire pit, a cozy focal point that draws friends and family together beneath the open sky.

To complete the transformation, plants from Mesa Grande Nursery were selected for their resilience and beauty — a mix of vibrant Mediterranean and drought-tolerant varieties that bring color and softness throughout the seasons. The combination of hardscape craftsmanship and curated plant design creates a balanced, enduring landscape that feels native to its surroundings.

AAA Landscaping’s work on this San Luis Obispo project showcases how thoughtful materials, expert construction, and artistic detail can turn a simple yard into a Hearthstone Hollow — a space that feels both inviting and timeless.
